Film poster design contest: Student artist winner

Art major Yifei Wu ’27 recently won a UCLA Film & Television Archive competition to design a promotional poster for the newly restored film Smog (dir. Franco Rossi, Italy, 1962). Her powerful artwork focused on the sense of alienation at the heart of the iconic film, which made its Los Angeles restoration premiere at the 2024 UCLA Festival of Preservation. Wu’s movie poster was displayed in the theater lobby during the festival, and audience members who attended the Smog screening received a free poster, printed with support from the Italian Cultural Institute in Los Angeles. This contest was open exclusively to UCLA School of the Arts and Architecture students.
