More Information

Please join us in welcoming Robert Johnson to the UCLA Library! Robert is our new clinical and research support librarian for Sciences User Engagement at the Louise M. Darling Biomedical Library.

In order to introduce you to our newest Library member, we asked him a few questions about coming to UCLA:

What goals/hopes do you have for this year as our new Clinical and Research Support Librarian?

A primary goal is to bridge the gaps between students, faculty and clinicians in all health sciences disciplines by providing continuity from student curriculum through continuing education for working professionals. Another goal is work with colleagues to determine the most sustainable and valuable model for UCLA’s Systematic Review Service(opens in a new tab).

How has your prior experience prepared you for this role at the UCLA Library?

I’ve spent my career as a librarian and library staff member working in medical libraries. While there is always something new to find, the quality that pulls them together is dedication to our students, staff, faculty, clinicians and patients.

What projects will you be tackling first?

My first set of objectives are to establish contacts in UCLA’s clinical environment – graduate medical education, continuing medical education, accreditation groups, quality improvement teams, residency directors, etc. These contacts will help direct the path forward to implementing education sessions and research partnerships.
