More Information
What goals/hopes do you have for this year as our new Korea Foundation visiting librarian?
I’m very excited to join the UCLA Library’s East Asian Library. As a Korea Foundation visiting librarian, I hope to contribute to the Korean collection by assisting my supervisors. I would like to experience the library system of UCLA and find a good way to introduce the Korean collection to researchers. It is important to build a good collection so that users can access it anytime they want. I’m really happy to participate in the management of the Korean collection.
How has your prior experience prepared you for this role at the UCLA Library?
Before joining EAL, I worked at the Ewha Womans University Central Library in Korea for 14 months. My main duty was to provide journals to the public as well as to researchers in Korea. I was proud of helping researchers with their work by providing information from the library. I also processed the arrival of new materials. I would like to use my previous experience and apply that to my time here at UCLA.
What projects will you be tackling first?
I’m in charge of cataloging the materials of EAL. I put information about the new materials in the library system so that users can search for the information easily. Also, I’m working at the EAL public services information desk to answer questions that users want to know. It is important to know what users' interests are. Learning the interests of users will be helpful when I participate in Korean resource discovery projects with my supervisor.
What are you currently watching? And what do you like to do outside of work?
I like watching movies on Netflix. Recently, I watched "Narco Saints," a Korean movie, and "Do Revenge." I also enjoy exercising. I run around my neighborhood, and it’s energizing. I recently signed up for an exercise class at UCLA. It will start soon. I’m so excited.
