The Library welcomes applied mathematician and data scientist Chad Topaz to present his talk, Quantitative Approaches to Criminal and Social Justice: Mitigating Inequity for Racially Minoritized Individuals in Policing, Sentencing and Incarceration on Monday, Nov. 7, at the Charles E. Young Research Library and via livestream. Topaz is professor of complex systems at Williams College, and, as co-founder of the Institute for the Quantitative Study of Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity, he is an avid scholar and educator whose research applies quantitative tools to expose and remedy social injustice. The talk is part of the Jacob Marschak Interdisciplinary Colloquium on Mathematics in the Behavioral Sciences at UCLA, a series established in the 1950s.
