New NIH requirements for data management and sharing

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) announced a new Data Management and Sharing (DMS)(opens in a new tab) Policy that applies to proposals submitted on or after January 25, 2023. This policy aligns with recent White House policy(opens in a new tab) guidance for federally funded research requiring more transparent data sharing and promoting good data management practices. The NIH DMS Policy requires all data-generating research that is funded in whole or in part by the NIH to include a written plan to manage and share that data.
