Biography
Elizabeth Lhost is Program Manager for the Modern Endangered Archives Program(opens in a new tab) at the UCLA Library. Prior to joining UCLA, Elizabeth was the South Asia Digital Librarian at the Center for Research Libraries where she managed and coordinated the South Asia Open Archives(opens in a new tab) (SAOA). She also held postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and Dartmouth College, where she created and ran the "Conversations on South Asia(opens in a new tab)" series from 2020–2023.
Elizabeth earned a Ph.D. in History and South Asian Languages and Civilizations from the University of Chicago. Her recent publications include Everyday Islamic Law and the Making of Modern South Asia(opens in a new tab) (University of North Carolina Press, 2022) and a six-part series of essays(opens in a new tab) for the Islamic Law Blog(opens in a new tab) on sources for studying Islamic law in South Asia.
