Bing Liu of Evergreen Books Endowed Collection in Chinese Culture
This collection ensures Chinese culture remains accessible to Southern California.
In 1978, after receiving extensive educational training and professional experience in China, Taiwan and the United States, Bing Liu established Evergreen Publishing and Stationery in the Los Angeles suburb of Monterey Park, building it into one of the leading Chinese book publishers, suppliers and distributors in North America. With Mr. Liu at its helm, Evergreen Books has continued to serve the Chinese American community through a deep commitment to importing and selling Chinese literature and to promoting cultural programs, gallery exhibitions and publishing books about America to help newly arrived Chinese immigrants settle into their adopted country.
Mr. Liu's deep commitment to Chinese culture in Southern California is evident in his relationship with the Richard C. Rudolph East Asian Library. A longtime supporter of the library through gifts-in-kind, Mr. Liu has augmented his generosity by establishing the Bing Liu of Evergreen Books Endowed Collection in Chinese Culture to support all areas of Chinese culture, encompassing history, art, literature and other disciplines in the humanities and social sciences. Considering the broad impact of Chinese culture and the many ways in which it has been documented, this fund helps the East Asian Library provide important resources to students and faculty in books, journals, photographs, maps, manuscripts, digital or other formats.
