Infotrieve Collection Endowment Fund
The first collection endowment established by a document-delivery company, the Infotrieve Collection Endowment Fund supports the Louise M. Darling Biomedical Library.
Infotrieve was a dynamic young document-delivery company based in L.A. that provided libraries and their users with efficient and affordable methods of identifying, retrieving and paying for published literature. Its mission was to facilitate the distribution of materials to libraries and end users while protecting the rights of their authors. In this age of rapid change and global communications, the demand for access to the resources of all libraries and the cost of maintaining them has soared. This is particularly true for the Louise M. Darling Biomedical Library. As the National Library of Medicine's designated information resource for the Pacific Southwest for 30 years, the Biomedical Library seeks to ensure that health professionals throughout the region have access to the health information resources needed for education and patient care. To express its admiration for and support of the Biomedical Library and its staff, Infotrieve established the Infotrieve Collection Endowment Fund, which supports the acquisition or licensing of journals in all formats (print, digital and multimedia) in the biomedical sciences. The Infotrieve Collection Endowment Fund is the first collection endowment to be established by a document-delivery company.
