William Hobson established this endowment in loving memory of his wife of more than forty years, Evelyn. Mrs. Hobson received her doctorate in clinical psychology from Columbia University, and as a psychologist in private practice, she was a consultant to schools for children with learning disabilities. Mr. Hobson, a retired real estate development and municipal bonds investor, created a legacy of philanthropy at UCLA and at universities nationwide, establishing graduate fellowships to encourage and guarantee excellence in the fields that were most important to his wife.
