The Lucius N. Littauer Foundation Judaica Book Fund

In 1992 a grant from the Lucius N. Littauer Foundation created the UCLA Library's first endowment for the purpose of purchasing and preserving materials for the Library's Jewish studies collection. The foundation was established by the late Lucius N. Littauer in 1929 for the "benefit of mankind." The Jewish studies program at UCLA is highly interdisciplinary, bringing together faculty and students in such areas as Hebrew, Yiddish, history, folklore, musicology, art, political science, sociology and anthropology. Through regular acquisitions and generous gifts from donors, the library has created the strongest Jewish studies collection west of the Mississippi. The income derived from The Lucius N. Littauer Foundation Judaica Book Fund develops this important collection for UCLA students and faculty and interested members of the wider scholarly community in perpetuity.
