More Information

Access

The Graduate Reading Room is a 24-hour study space for graduate students in the Schools of Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing and Public Health, as well as in the life sciences division of the College. Others may not use the facility. The Center for Health Sciences (CHS) security conducts daily BruinCard checks to ensure all users follow this policy.

The Graduate Reading Room is accessible from the 8th stack level of the Louise M. Darling Biomedical Library during regular hours. Eligible users may access the reading room after hours via BruinCard swipe at CHS 32-001.

Policies

To keep the area accessible, safe and clean, please observe the following rules:

  • Use group study rooms only in groups, not by yourself. These rooms cannot be reserved in advance.
  • Maintain a quiet study environment.
  • Do not let other individuals into the Graduate Reading Room with your BruinCard.
  • Do not attempt to access the rest of the Biomedical Library when it is closed.
  • Food and beverages are allowed in the Graduate Reading Room, but please be considerate of Library and custodial staff by clearing away any mess or trash.
  • Do not leave belongings unattended. Items left in study rooms or the main reading room for extended periods will be removed by staff to the circulation desk on the first floor.
  • Cooperate with Biomedical Library staff and CHS security at all times. Staff may check backpacks, bags and other materials during this time.
  • Bruin I.D. Checks may be done at any moment while using the Graduate Reading Room.

Anyone observed violating these rules can have their Graduate Reading Room privileges revoked and may be fined.
