About Virtual Desktop
The UCLA Library Campus Library Instructional Computing Commons (CLICC)(opens in a new tab) provides a virtual desktop, allowing Bruins to access UCLA resources and work in dozens of licensed software suites. Bruins can use virtual desktops on any computer or tablet on campus or anywhere. It is free to any UCLA student, staff or faculty member with a valid UCLA Logon ID.
The CLICC virtual desktop serves most instruction, research and study needs. It offers a full Windows desktop and an abundance of commonly used instructional software. To request software be added to the list, contact us via the CLICC Services Portal(opens in a new tab).

Access the CLICC Virtual Desktop
Access the virtual desktop via http://uclalibrary.apporto.com/(opens in a new tab).
Connection & login:
- ON Campus → Connect to "eduroam(opens in a new tab)" wi-fi
- OFF Campus → Connect to any wi-fi and connect to the UCLA VPN (opens in a new tab)
- UCLA Logon ID Credentials & MFA duo authentication required to log in
Follow the steps below:
- Once logged in, click ‘Launch.’
- A new tab will open. It may take a couple of minutes to load on the first launch. Select ‘Allow.’
- Once loaded, the Windows desktop will show and be ready to use!

Open/Save Files From/To Your Device
Easily open local files from your personal device on the virtual desktop and save files from the virtual desktop to your device!
- Click the 'File upload' button to upload a local file from your personal computer. Your computer's normal File or Finder window will open to select from your files.
- Click the 'File download' button to download (save) a file from the virtual desktop to your personal computer. A pop-up will open, allowing you to choose a file from the virtual desktop. Select the file(s) and select 'Download.'
Request a Virtual Classroom
Virtual classrooms provide students and instructors in a course with either type of virtual desktop. Instructors may request virtual classrooms for one-time or recurring events. To start the process, please open a Virtual Classroom Request(opens in a new tab) in the CLICC Resources & Services portal.
Contact CLICC
Contact us via the CLICC Services Portal(opens in a new tab) to submit an inquiry, report issues or request that software be added.
If the virtual desktop is not sufficient for your coursework or instruction, you may request a CLICC Windows HP Laptop(opens in a new tab) for up to one (1) quarter at a time. See the form for information and supporting documentation required for review and approval.
