Fluent in Krio, English and Armenian, his love for cinema began in the rustic theaters of 1970s Freetown.\u003C/p>\n\u003Cp>Kupelian's extensive credits include \u003Cem>The Lord of the Rings\u003C/em> trilogy, \u003Cem>Flags of Our Fathers\u003C/em>, \u003Cem>Alice in Wonderland\u003C/em>, \u003Cem>Space Jam\u003C/em>, Marvel's \u003Cem>Moon Knight\u003C/em> and \u003Cem>Signs of Life\u003C/em> for the Griffith Park Observatory. His visual work appears in official Lord of the Rings publications and a New Zealand stamp collection and spans film, television, commercial projects and his East of Byzantium graphic novel series. The third volume in the series, titled \u003Cem>The Hammer\u003C/em>, centers on the Maccabees.\u003C/p>\n\u003Cp>Kupelian was also an embedded filmmaker during the conflicts that followed the collapse of the Soviet Union in the Caucasus, experiences that continue to inform the depth of his storytelling.
